Dog eat Dog – Roman im Yellow Dawn Universum

Vor längerem haben wir ja bereits von Yellow Dawn berichtet, dem Rollenspiel von David J. Rodgers mit starken Mythos Bezügen und einem postapokalytischen Hintergrund. Gerade ist der erste Roman der in diesem Universum fertig geworden, dazu der Blogeintrag von David:

07:37 GMT, Thursday 4th November. Sat at my desk, a churning mix of blue sky and ragged dark clouds are throwing stormy light in through the glass canopy behind me.  Life support is blowing warm air across my bare legs; I’m wrapped in the woolly embrace of Starsky and have a big mug of strong tea beside me.  Clan of Xymox is playing by choice, on vinyl, conjuring memories of a life and a world 21 years and 320 miles distant.

I’m enjoying a moment of relative quiet and calm. I’ve got a potentially tough few days ahead of me.

Yesterday, 3rd November, I published my fifth novel, Dog Eat Dog. Very much a soft launch.  It’s new fiction.  A story set within the post-apocalyptic world of Yellow Dawn.  There are zombies although within the story, the term is seen as a misnomer generated by popular media of survivors.  And, as with much of my writing, there’s a far reaching influence of some Cthulhu Mythos nasty: a Great-Old-One and Servitor Race combination I created  for the Yellow Dawn world. I’ve not seen a copy of the book yet so I’m trusting it’s a-okay.  Should get to see it next week. Meanwhile, press release here

Wie Tom gehöre ich schon zu den “Großen Alten” der Müchner Rollenspiel Szene. Auf Cthulhu bin ich damals (vor Äonen scheint es mir) durch Tom gestossen und wir haben auch einige sehr schöne und stimmungsvolle Abende verbracht.

    Das Setting an sich finde ich ja toll, aber das Grundbuch war ziemlich schlecht geschrieben – und das will was heißen, wenn man das als Nicht-Muttersprachler schon merkt.
    Daher meine Frage: wie ist denn das Buch so, hast Du es schon gelesen?

    Hi Frank,
    ich habe das Buch noch nicht, es ist ja gerade erst rausgekommen. Eines der anderen hatte ich gelesen und fand es recht gut. Kein Herr der Ringe aber gut zu lesen und unterhaltsam.

    Morning Frank.  I hope this finds you well.  I felt a little gutted that you thought the landscape / world of Yellow Dawn was badly written, especially as I value your opinion.
    I always believe in turning negatives into positives.  Would you be able to spare a moment to tell me where I went wrong; what didn’t you like; what was missing; what would you like to see?
    I’m currently scoping and planning to write an updated version of YD that entirely seperates the setting from the rules, hopefully allowing people to use it with their existing game system, without needing to learn a whole new system.
